United Kingdom

The UK provides an environment that actively encourages international business and welcomes non–UK domiciled residents and its capital, London, is one of the world’s most important financial centres. It has enjoyed a system of company registration since 1844. Companies Acts have been around for the last 150 years, and are designed to set the framework in which companies with limited liability must work. The Companies Act 1985 and the updating legislation contained in the Companies Act 1989 have now been replaced by the Companies Act 2006 which has effectively replaced existing company legislation by re-writing, updating and modernising company law.
All limited companies in England, Wales and Scotland are registered at Companies House where more than 2 million limited companies are registered with more than 300,000 new companies incorporated each year.

The UK Government has a comprehensive online presence with information about all the different Departments and areas of responsibility.
