Martyn Fiddler Associates Update June 2010

Angie Deady

Angie Deady, Operations Manager for Martyn Fiddler Associates Limited, based at London Stansted Airport, gave us a run down of what they have been up to:

"It has been a very busy few months for us. We continue to increase the number of aircraft imported into the UK with an amazing 30 aircraft using our importation services just in the last two months; a large number of these were new aircraft which is great. It suggests that things are looking up in the industry.

The uncertainty of the UK VAT on aircraft situation is prompting owners and operators to act sooner rather than later to ensure their aircraft are compliant with the EU free circulation regulations. Any aircraft operating within the EU with EU persons or crew on board must be in free circulation.  It is worthwhile taking advantage of the UK’s preferential rate of zero percent import tax on aircraft above 8,000 kgs before the changes, which are still being discussed, are implemented.

EBACE stand 2010Our biggest event of the year, EBACE, took place in Geneva from 04-06 May. It was an extremely busy show for both the Martyn Fiddler Associates team and our colleagues from ICM Aviation. There was a constant flow of clients old and new to our stand. Just as well we were fully staffed, with a team of 10 aviation professionals from all of our aviation departments, including our new EU ETS team.  As in previous years, we had the pleasure of the company of Brian Johnson and Mark Manton from the Isle of Man Aircraft Register who are always extremely professional, supportive and expertly fly that  three legged flag for the Island.

We now look forward to participating in BGAD on 21st September and the Middle Eastern Business Aviation show (MEBA) in Dubai from 07 - 09 December where we will have a stand for the first time."

Comments from Martyn Fiddler with regards to the VAT on aircraft in the UK can be found in our post UK budget news item of March 29th 2010 and post UK election item of June 2nd 2010.
