Isle of Man

Located in the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, but is a Crown Protectorate. The Island is not a member of the European Union, although it enjoys associate membership through its links with the UK and has the world’s oldest continuous parliament – Tynwald - dating back more than 1000 years to 979AD.

The island is respected worldwide as a well regulated jurisdiction enjoying levels of political and economic stability few other countries are able to match. With a government actively encouraging creative business concepts, the Isle of Man is an ideal location for operating innovative and secure financial structures.

The Isle of Man has a well deserved reputation for working with private sector companies to create a business-friendly culture as it recognises that successful Manx business equals a successful Manx economy. Consequently the ICM group of Companies has worked closely with the Government to help foster as attractive a regulatory and fiscal environment as possible.

The Isle of Man is the flag of choice for many of the world’s superyachts and its successful ship registry – originally established in 1786 – was recently voted the world’s best by the International Maritime Organisation.

The outstanding success of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry, headed by Captain Brian E Johnson and launched in May 2007, is evident in the fact there are now more than 100 aircraft on the Register and the M-prefix is proving to be extremely popular.
